what’s going on…
A lot of things are going on at the moment and here is a little summary of what happened during the last couple of weeks.
– concerts with triosence and Debbie Clarke, recording-sessions for Tom Bennecke (Jazzkantine) and Jochen Ross, great CD-reviews, some travelling and news about upcoming music camps…
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoy it…
To prepare for the upcoming recording-session of triosence’s 5-1/2-th CD we played a couple of nice concerts to test our music on „living people“ as our pianist would say. I am really happy about how well people reacted to the new songs and that we were actually able to play a whole show with previously unreleased songs.
I am really looking fwd. to recording at Rainbow Studios in Oslo with Jan Erik Kongshaug again. I will be playing some new percussion-instruments that haven’t been used for triosence yet, like Cabasa, foot-tambourine or Kalimba on Summer Rain.
I hope you will like it. You can read our concert-reviews at triosence’s facebook-page and find here some pictures of the concert at Bad Neustadt’s Bildhäuser Hof.
The next shows with triosence are:
31.3. – Cologne / Soundstudio N
12.4. – Braunschweig / Schimmel Auswahlcentrum
Our CD „Where Time Stands Still“ with Sara Gazarek has been released in the US since January and we are constantly receiving great reviews. Please take a look at the facebook-page from „triosence feat. Sara Gazarek“ for the links to the reviews. You can order it here from amazon.com
Together with Debbie Clarke, welsh singer, signed with Warner Music Germany, we rehearsed extensively in Hamburg and then travelled to Wales to play a successful showcase at the beautiful venue of Gwyndir Castle.
The band’s great line-up consists of Ingo Hassenstein on MD/guitar/backings, Kerstin Sund on guit./backings, Daniel Schunn on keys/accordion, Nina Müller on keys/flute/glockenspiel/backings, Susanne Vogel bass/backings and me on drums & percussion.
Debbie is a great singer and bandleader to work with and I am looking fwd. to what is coming up in the future.
On march 28th we will play another showcase in Hamburg where we will also meet producer Tony Visconti (T-Rex, David Bowie) who produced Debbie’s CD Manhattanhenge which is to be released in May 2012.
Here are a couple of pictures from our rehearsal and the trip to Wales.
During the last couple of weeks I recorded some tracks for Jochen Ross next album which will be finished throughout the year. I am happy that a.o. triosence’s Matthias Nowak will be playing bass on it.
Another studio-session took place near Dortmund at the Camarillo Studios from Benny Mokross, where I recorded with Tom Bennecke, guitarist of Jazzkantine, Catrin Groth sax/vocals, Ingo Senst (also from triosence) on bass and Martin Scholz on keys. I am really looking fwd. to hear the results.
Here are some pictures from the session.
I am happy to announce the third creativ drum camp which will take place in August in France. Jost Nickel (Jan Delay), Moritz Müller (The Intersphere) and I will be teaching at the beautiful „Maison Du Kleebach“. Please check out this link for more information about this event.
And I am also looking forward to these events: Studio Session and concerts with triosence in Oslo, the Mainpop Bandcamp in Hammelburg, the Bandcamp in Kassel, concerts with Hamid Baroudi and the LAMA-Day in Hannover.
Thanks for checking out this news-post. See you next time!
All the best, Stephan
